About The School

The Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of University of Calcutta, a UGC Networking Resource Centre in Physical Sciences in India, organized a Workshop on “Application of Simulators in Photonics, Electronics and Communication Technology (ASPECT-2013)” during March 11 - 15, 2013. The idea of the workshop arose after discussion with students who worked on simulation tools in their project and research work but were not fully aware of the different aspects and facilities that these tools offered.

The workshop was inaugurated with Prof. Animesh Maitra, Head of the Department of Radio Physics and Electronics, delivering the Welcome Address. Prof. Susanta Sen, Co-ordinator, Centre of Advanced Study in Radio Physics and Electronics spoke about the heritage and activities of the Institute while Prof. Prasanta Kumar Basu, former Director of the UGC-Networking Resource Centre in Physical Sciences, gave a brief resume of the UGC-NRCPS and its activities. Prof. Goutam Ghosh, Director of the Centre dwelt upon the progress and future programs of the Centre. Dr. Anirban Bhattacharyya delivered the Vote of Thanks.

In order to make the workshop effective it was conducted in two tracks. Track 1 dealt with the Simulation of Photonic Devices while Track 2 covered Electronic System Science.

Selection of Candidates

The submitted registration forms were examined and a list of selected fellows was published in the website to enable them to reserve train/air tickets. Due consideration was given to select participants from all over India and to give preference to candidates from North Eastern regions. The following Table may provide an idea how the objective was fulfilled.
