Information The rapid progress of Information Technology has brought the people at the other end of the globe in one's nearest neighborhood. In a complete sense, the Information Technology covers all the areas of science and technology, which can be used as a tool to create, manage and exchange information. Multi-gigabit communication using modern computers and advanced devices has now become a reality, and the trends indicate further breakthrough in the next decade. The 2nd International Conference on Computers and Devices for Communication (CODEC) to be held during December 18-20, 2006 in Calcutta, India will bring together researchers, developers, practitioners, consultants and users of Computers, Devices and Communications with the aim to serve as a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas about the present and future work, solutions and problems in these fields. The conference will be organized by the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. University of Calcutta has the tradition of academic excellence producing all-time great scholars from India. Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics (http://www.irpel.org) is recognized as the Centre of Advanced Study (CAS) by the University Grants Commision (UGC) of the Govt. of India, and the present conference is a part of its numerous CAS activities.
