K. BANDYOPADHYAY
K. BANDYOPADHYAY, after obtaining the Master Degree in Electronics and
Telecommunication Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta he joined
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1972. He worked in German
Space Research Centre, DLR in 1978 as visiting Scientist. At present he
is Group Director of two Groups, Systems and Applications Group and Satcom
Ground System Technology Group of in Space Applications Centre, ISRO,
and Ahmedabad. He was involved in many pioneering activities of Indian
satellite communication program, such as, Project leader of Indias
first satellite COMNEX, Project Manager of Indias first indigenously
developed VSAT pilot project, Satellite Based Rural Telegraphy Network,
SBRTN, for North-East Region of India, Chairman of System Definition Team
for INSAT Mobile Satellite System, Project Director of GSAT-1 Applications
Project to introduce digital TV, digital sound and data broadcast in the
Indian satellite system; Project Director of GSAT-4 applications Project
involving use of onboard processing; Associated Project Director for Indian
Satellite Navigation Project, GAGAN; Project Director of Communications
Systems for Disaster Management in Disaster Management System Program.
He represented India and presented paper in GPS summit conference in Munich,
Germany during March 2003, at UN workshop on Bridging the Digital Divide
- Space Technology Solutions, in 2000 at Kulalampur, Malayasia, and participated
in many International & National conferences
