About The School

The 5th International Conference on Computers and Devices for Communication (CODEC-2012) was, as in the three previous years, held at the Hyatt Regency Kolkata, during December 17-19, 2012 and as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Institute attaining its 50th year as the Centre of Advanced Study in Radio Physics and Electronics. Prof. D. J. Chattopadhyay, Pro -Vice Chancellor (Academic), C.U. and Patron of CODEC-2012 presided over the inaugural function. The welcome address was given by the Conference Chair, Prof. Animesh Maitra. The Vote of Thanks was moved by the Conference Secretary. After the inaugural session, Prof. Jamal Deen of McMaster University, Canada, delivered the Keynote address while a number of eminent scientists and technologists delivered the Plenary lectures. The pre-conference workshop on Advances in Photonics, Electronics and Communication Systems (APECS) was held on December 16, 2012.

The pre-conference workshop was technically sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Photonics Society, MTT-S and IEEE-APS.
CODEC-2012 was also technically sponsored by them. UGC- NRCPS was the financial sponsor.

CODEC-2012 was financially sponsored by ADVANTECH, SYNERGY, BSNL, BRNS (BARC), CSIR, INSA and CAS in RPE(UGC). The young participants were supported by funds from the UGC-NRCPS.

There were as many as 83papers that were accepted for oral and 100 papres for poster presentation. All the papers have gone through a reviewing process by a panel of reviewers of national and international repute. CODEC-2012 was different from the previous CODECs in that a 4 minutes oral presentation was scheduled for all the poster presenters.


Selection of Candidates

The submitted registration forms were examined and a list of selected fellows was published in the website to enable them to reserve train/air tickets. Due consideration was given to select participants from all over India and to give preference to candidates from North Eastern regions. The following Table may provide an idea how the objective was fulfilled.
